For economic reasons MSi insists to not extend the contract with PDVSA beyond 2019 and if possible to nullify the contract before that time. This means the refinery will have to be closed and dismantled and the real-estate allocated to another destination. As a result thereof, three wishes of the public will be fulfilled:

• The emission of toxic gasses will cease;
• Thousands of local permanent jobs will be created;
• The resulting economic impulse will bring lasting prosperity.

Within the remaining timeframe and within the possibilities of the Netherlands Antilles MSi will accomplish this with self-confidence, assertiveness, will-power, courage and perseverance and take decisions with respect to the problems encompassing the oil refinery, enforcing environmental laws, and executing sanctions.

The oil-industry brought prosperity but also environmental damage, social disintegration, premature deaths, in the end forcing inhabitants to take refuge in the Netherlands for economic reasons.

MSi wants this natural site of Curaçao to be cleansed and made habitable as soon as possible, subsequently allowing Curaçao to realize the construction of a modern urban district around Schottegat that runs on sustainable energy. In this district there will be extensive green public relaxation areas and modern public facilities, where a great number of people will live, work and find recreation. Attracted will be environmentally clean maritime industries and facilities for yachts that are looking for a safe and high quality harbor in the Caribbean Sea, as well as cruise-ship-industry and related tourism industry.

On behalf of the current inhabitants the neighborhoods and districts currently in the path of the refinery smoke will be renovated and made livable. There will be parks and new roads.
The head-office of the refinery, the laboratory, the Jewish cemetery and other graves that are still present on the Isla-terrain will be declared as monuments.

The disassembling of the refinery, cleansing of the area, making it construction ready, and also the development of this urban district will create a unique opportunity to attain long-term employment and generate far more income than is currently the case. This will be used to combat social inequality and make the problematic neighborhoods livable as well as, for proper education and healthcare, and for the construction of public housing, for improvement of the infrastructure and development of sustainable energy.
